La Trobe Project

Placed in Melboune’s CBD.

A refined inner-city La Trobe Street residence shaped by understated luxury, balanced proportions and a restrained, enduring material language.

This La Trobe Street residence was thoughtfully transformed with a focus on clarity, balance and understated sophistication. Alesi approached the project as a measured refinement rather than a surface upgrade—shaping a home that feels resolved and architectural in character, grounded in quality, and designed for long-term inner-city living.

Across the residence, a restrained tonal palette establishes a sense of quiet cohesion. Warm neutrals, layered stone surfaces and softened finishes work together to let light, depth and material texture shape each space. Eschewing overt contrast or embellishment, the interiors are defined by gentle transitions and carefully considered detail—creating an environment that feels composed, measured and effortlessly refined.

Our Detail

A finely resolved inner-city La Trobe Street residence, elevated through disciplined design, a muted neutral palette and carefully curated material choices.

The kitchen is conceived as a quiet centrepiece within the La Trobe Street residence, resolved with clarity and restraint. A grounded stone benchtop and splashback introduce depth and tonal richness, balanced by subdued cabinetry that allows the material to lead without overpowering the space. Subtle veining adds character and movement, while disciplined joinery, integrated detailing and precise proportions ensure the kitchen reads as an architectural element rather than a decorative feature.

In the living and dining zones, the apartment’s scale and layout are carefully honoured and refined. A generous living area provides a sense of weight and permanence—an increasingly rare quality in CBD apartments—while layered timber flooring introduces warmth and texture. Softened ceiling treatments and controlled detailing temper the contemporary palette, creating a seamless dialogue between urban modernity and timeless comfort.

Our Craft

The bathrooms speak to Alesi’s considered approach to craftsmanship, where restraint and material continuity take precedence. Layered stone finishes, finely detailed cabinetry and gently curved glass forms are resolved with precision, creating spaces that feel refined, intimate and enduring. Each junction and surface is meticulously executed, reinforcing a commitment to quality, longevity and detail-driven construction.

Across the La Trobe Street residence, light is treated as an essential design element. Natural illumination is carefully harnessed to reveal texture, soften material transitions and bring depth to the neutral palette. Rather than relying on contrast or statement moments, the interiors are shaped by a quiet interplay of light and form—resulting in spaces that feel composed, balanced and confidently understated.

This La Trobe Street project embodies Alesi’s approach to inner-city craftsmanship: a disciplined design methodology, thoughtful material curation and a rigorous attention to detail. The outcome is a residence that feels resolved and timeless—urban in context, yet refined and enduring in character.
